We were very excited to see that Michael Levitt is a co-recipient of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Dr. Levitt has been a mentor of mine since I got to Stanford in 1999 and also has been an informal advisor for Folding@home over the years. In a nutshell, Dr. Levitt did pioneering work in using Molecular Dynamics to study proteins, a method which is at the heart of most of Folding@home’s calculations.
